It’s getting to the point where I don’t even know what will satisfy Democrats other than total and complete control of government and the suppression of any opposing viewpoint.
We are all well aware that protesting is a favorite pastime of the Democratic party. But since Trump was elected and shattered their collective consciousness, they seem to feel everything warrants a protest if they happen to disagree with it.
It all started after the election of Trump in 2016. Democratic women decided to protest against his presidency just 24 hours after he was inaugurated. Of course, the idiocy of protesting a presidency when it was less than 24 hours old was lost on the protesters.
What Democrats fail to realize is that there are specific conditions where protesting is warranted. The first condition is if you need to bring attention to a serious problem that is not being addressed or well known. However, virtually everyone in the civilized world knew about the election of Donald Trump, so the 2017 Women’s march fails this first criteria test.
The second criteria to warrant a protest is if regular political avenues are no longer available. Once again, the Women’s march and protest fails in this regard as well. Trump won via an election. There will be other elections where the Democrats can challenge so there were many political pathways open to Democrats for them to take action on this matter, once again showing protests were not necessary or warranted.
But that seems to be the problem, Democrats are no longer happy working within the system. Instead, they simply want to protest and hope that somehow if they cry enough, they will get their way.
Now, after having won the House in the 2018 midterms, Democrats are still looking to protest. Today, Democratic pundits were out calling for protests against Trump for his firing of Jeff Sessions and what they see as a threat to the Mueller investigation.
As reported by Breitbart News, Wednesday on MSNBC’s “Deadline,” former Justice Department spokesman Matt Miller said people should “take to the streets” over President Donald Trump removing Attorney General Jeff Sessions and appointing Matthew Whitaker as acting attorney general.
But once again this call for protest fails the criteria I spelled out above. The Mueller investigation and the fake Russian collusion witch hunt is well known by virtually every American. So there is no need to protest to bring more attention to it. In fact, many polls show Americans are tired of hearing about it.
Second, the Democrats have control of the House now, so they can investigate all they want which means there are plenty of political avenues left for them to pursue their goals.
So just as before, protesting is not warranted nor even needed, but Democrats want instant results and capitulation, not actual Democracy. So they continue to collectively cry like a spoiled child who doesn’t get their way.
So all of this leaves us with the question from before – What will satisfy Democrats? Sadly, more and more it’s looking like what they truly want is a one party government where all opposing speech and viewpoints are immediately squashed or twisted and portrayed as “hate speech”.
I guess Senator Lindsay Graham was right when earlier this year he said to Democrats, “Boy, y’all want power…God, I hope you never get it..”.
